Bio-based textile derived from soybean protein for breathable, moisture-regulating mattress surfaces

Soy fiber mattress fabric is a bio-based textile derived from soybean protein (soy protein isolate) processed through wet-spinning or solution-spinning methods. The fiber contains 18 amino acids that provide natural moisture absorption and breathability characteristics. Soy fiber has a moisture regain of 10-12%, comparable to cotton and superior to polyester (0.4-0.8%). The fiber surface features micro-grooves that facilitate capillary action for moisture wicking. Available in custom specifications: soy fiber content 20-80% (blended with cotton, polyester, or Tencel), fabric weight 180-450 gsm, width 180-240 cm, in knit or woven constructions. All products are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 compliant and biodegradable under industrial composting conditions.

What is the ideal soy fiber blend ratio for mattress ticking?

The optimal blend depends on application requirements. For mattress ticking: 30-50% soy fiber blended with cotton or Tencel provides balanced breathability and tensile strength. Higher soy content (60-80%) is recommended for pillow covers and topper layers where softness and moisture management are prioritized over structural durability.

Is soy fiber suitable for high-temperature industrial laundering?

Soy fiber maintains structural integrity up to 60°C washing temperature. For hospitality applications with 60-75°C wash requirements, we recommend blending with at least 30% polyester to improve heat resistance. Standard wash temperature ≤40°C is recommended for 100% soy or soy-cotton blends.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom soy fiber fabric?

MOQ is 800 linear meters for standard blend ratios (30-50% soy). Custom blends (70-80% soy) or special fiber combinations require 1,500 meters. Sample rolls (10-20 meters) are available for testing and approval prior to bulk production.

Does soy fiber fabric retain its properties after washing?

Yes. Soy fiber demonstrates ≥90% moisture regain retention after 50 washing cycles. Tensile strength retention is ≥85%. To maintain performance, use neutral pH detergent and avoid chlorine bleach which can degrade the protein-based fiber structure.

Is soy fiber fabric certified for organic or eco-label claims?
